Huntington Dog Beach

One and a half miles of white sand expanding the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean make up Huntington Dog Beach. The view of the bluffs between the Goldenwest and Seapoint streets makes for a great backdrop to this fun area where both you and your pooch can run through the waves or relax in the sun. Although the current city ordinance states that dogs are supposed to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length, most dogs are able to enjoy off-leash privileges. In the past few years, the only off-leash dogs that have been cited/ removed from the park are those that pose a threat to others.

Metered parking with two-hour caps exists in two nearby lots off of Pacific Coast Highway. This park creates the best experience possible for all visitors with included doggie waste bags (please use sparingly), picnic areas with tables, restrooms, and a multitude of events, year-round. Annual doggo events include dog weddings, Surf City Surf Dog (a dog surfing competition), and So Cal Corgi National Beach Days.

It is recommended that you ease your canine companion into all of the new experiences Dog Beach can present. Not all pooches take well to swimming right off the bat. This beach makes it very easy to keep your pup on a leash and introduce them to new sites and possible furry friends. The park provides doggy bags, making it very easy to clean up after your pup. Please do so to ensure that the park can be enjoyed by others in the future. Left bags and/or waste is prohibited and citable.  

Be mindful of how much salt-water your dog ingests. Too much can be life-threatening. Be sure to pack fresh water and a bowl to place it in. Also, bring some shade to help your dog get out of the sun and cool off as trees are sparse.
