It’s the 19th annual Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade…one of Long Beach’s most beloved pet events! Watch nearly 500 costumed dogs parade down Marina Vista Park’s concrete bike path for nearly 45 minutes. Can you think of a better way to spend a Sunday?
Register your dog(s) in advance for the parade for $10/dog, or pay $20 (cash!) per dog at the event. You can even pay $35 to register your dog as a VIP. Humans are FREE to walk in the parade! Spectators can rent a chair on-site for $5 or reserve chairs in advance for $10. Spectate without a chair for free.
Where does all that money go? A lot of great causes. In addition to local spay and neuter efforts, the event raises over $10,000 a year for the nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team (CAT) that includes Haute Dogs, the Dog Beach Zone, the monthly 30-Minute Beach Cleanups, the So Cal Kids’ Spelling Bee Championship, Operation Santa Paws, the Great American Kids’ July 4 Bike Parade, Operation Easter Basket and more.
Don’t forget – this parade is also a contest! Judges will be looking for:
– best costumes on dogs
– best costumes on people walking a dog in the parade
– best groups (any combo of at least two dogs/people)
– best “floats” Limit 5′ wide. A float is any dog(s) riding in/upon/within a moving, non-motorized device; such as a wagon or pulled cart.
There will also be prizes for best-dressed kids and adults. Plan to arrive early for the vendor and event fair taking place in the park with dozens of local pet vendors, companies, and even pets up for adoption.
