CatCon 2018 is coming to Pasadena and it’s a big, big deal.
Last year’s CatCon attracted over 20,000 attendees to the northeastern suburb of Los Angeles and this year’s event, the 4th annual, is bound to be an even bigger draw.
Here’s what you need to know before you go.

What You’ll See:
Over 150 cat-related businesses are expected to show off their wares at CatCon2018. In addition to strolling the aisles (and collecting free swag, of course), attendees can also kill time at seminars, shows, and more. Costumes and over-the-top cat gear are strongly encouraged.
Perhaps the biggest draw to CatCon are the cat-lebrities. Talent at the event will include Lil’ Bub, Instagram hot-shot and cat extraordinaire, Ian Somerhalder of The Vampire Diaries fame (and noted cat lover), and a plethora of other influencers, advocates, and famous felines.
In addition to all the paw-some cat merchandise and celebrity guests, expect to be tempted by dozens of adorable, adoptable cats from the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA.
Answers to Your 3 Most Burning Questions:
Can I bring my cat to CatCon?
No! For the safety of all attendees and, of course, the comfort of your cat, CatCon asks that you do not bring your cat with you into the convention hall. We know. You’ll just have to show her that selfie of you and Lil’ Bub later.
Does CatCon cost money?
Yes. Tickets range from $15-$100 each and include everything from entry-only to VIP status. Extras like meet-and-greets with Instafamous cats can be purchased on-site for an additional charge, or beforehand at a discount. Bonus: Some of your CatCon admission and “extra” fees will go towards various reputable cat-friendly charities.
Is there a hashtag?!?!
Obviously. It’s #CatCon2018.
Traveling With Your Cat to Pasadena:
Just because you can’t take your cat into CatCon doesn’t mean she can’t come along for the ride. There are a number of pet friendly hotels in Pasadena (call ahead to make sure cats are allowed!) and the city as a whole is very pet friendly. And if you can’t bring your cat? Be sure to check out L.A.’s first and only cat cafe, Crumbs and Whiskers, while you’re here to get your fix.
If you’re flying, you’ll need a Travel Certificate for your cat. Contact a vet in your area about a full Health Inspection before you plan to travel and make sure to check with your airline about specifications for your cat carrier. And as you’re flying in or out, here a guide for how to navigate LAX with a cat.
Don’t forget to bring a few things with you on your trip, flying or not. A hard-shell carrier is safest for car trips, and be sure you’ve got a harness, leash (yes, a leash), and a collar with ID tags. You’ll want to bring plenty of toys, treats, and food, as well as easy-to-clean bowls. Also, a travel litter box with plenty of fresh litter! Most importantly, don’t forget any medications your cat needs (or might need!) once on the road.
If your favorite feline gets sick once you’re here in L.A.? Don’t worry. Vetted has you covered.
