Introduction

The City of Angels. La-La Land. Tinseltown. The Enterainment Capital of the World. However you want to say it, Los Angeles is a puptacular city that’s bursting with excitement, sunshine, and celebrities. What do Angelenos love more than the city’s pawfect climate and endless amount of things to do? Their dogs! On any given day you can see pets and their people out walking the streets of L.A. While there are plenty of benefits of owning a dog in this bustling muttropolis, there are also some challenges. Read on for some tricks of the trade that will make living in L.A. with your pup a doggone dream!

Practice Proper Leash Manners

Like any major muttropolis, LA’s streets are full of fast paced walkers. It’s impawtant for you and your doggo to go with the flow of traffic. Make sure your pup is leash trained and not constantly tugging and lunging. Ideally, the leash should be between four to six feet long. Any less and your pup is too restricted, and any more gives them too much freedom. Leave the retractable leash at home, otherwise you may end up in a tangled mess!

Live in a Dog Friendly Neighborhood

There’s no denying it, some neighborhoods are just more dog friendly than others. If pawsible, buy or rent in an area like Santa Monica, Silver Lake, West Hollywood, or Downtown Los Angeles. In these furrific areas, your pooch will find everything they need. With a high concentration of vets, pet shops, groomers, parks, and dog friendly restaurants, these neighborhood are doggone great! These pawsome neighborhoods are also more likely to have landlords that welcome furry tenants.

Take Your Pup on a Date

Los Angeles is jam packed with dog friendly places, so treat your pooch to a night out on the town. Stroll through the eclectic Art District. For something a bit more casual, attend one of Eat See Hear’s famous outdoor movie nights, where dogs are welcome to watch the big screen. Grab a drink at Muddy Paw Coffee or attend the beloved Pawsapalooza Festival. Be sure stroll down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, so your pup can look at all the stars.

Make Time for Exercise

Los Angeles makes it super easy to tucker out your pup. Dogs that want to dart around off leash can stop by The Boneyard or Silver Lake Dog Park for a nice romp. If it’s just too dang hot, stop by Zoom Room, an indoor dog park. If your pooch would rather go to the beach (and who can blame them), head over to the infamous Rosie’s Dog Beach. The bottom line is there are plenty of pawsome outdoor space in this big city to satisfy your adventurous pooch.
