Palliative care

Palliative care

Palliative care is an option if your pet is suffering from a terminal illness and a cure is not possible. The goal is to make a pet's final days or weeks more pleasant with the proper use of pain medications, dietary strategies and human interaction.

Palliative medicine is care that is delivered as a pet approaches the end of its life. The most common circumstances that lead up to the decision to initiate palliative care include:

  • Life-limiting illness
  • A decision not to pursue curative therapy
  • Severe progression of life threatening diseases such as cancers or tumors that can’t be treated
