The Bully Bordeaux is a hybrid breed. His parent breeds are the Bull Mastiff and the Dogue de Bordeaux. He is considered a giant-sized breed, and often looks most like his Bull Mastiff parent. He is a very affectionate and kid-friendly dog. In fact, this giant breed enjoys spending time indoors with his family. He will need ample exercise, but he will need to spend this time with you. He has a rough coat that does not require much maintenance. He is primarily a companion dog; even though he is a very large dog, he will attempt to spend as much time in his owner’s lap as possible.

Bully Bordeaux Breed History

The Bully Bordeaux is a hybrid breed. To understand the Bully Bordeaux’s history, one must study the parent breeds of this designer breed. The Bull Mastiff is a descendent of the molosser which is believed to originate in the mountains of Asia. Mastiffs are depicted in ancient Greek and Egyptian artwork. The Mastiff has been a herding dog and was also used during warfare by Kubla Khan. Unfortunately, the Mastiff has also been used as a fighting dog. However, the Mastiff is quite a gentle breed today. Descended from the Molossus, the Dogue de Bordeaux is actually another type of Mastiff dog. His origin is in France. Hunters of boar and jaguar, guardians of person and property, and even herders of livestock, the Dogue de Bordeaux was prized for his versatility, courage and intelligence. The most commonly recognized Dogue de Bordeaux is the lovable giant dog who starred along Tom Hanks in Turner and Hooch. The Dogue de Bordeaux was added to the American Kennel Cliub registry of purebreds in 2008. The combination of these extra large breeds has given us a quiet, noble hybrid who makes a wonderful addition to a family, teaching owners to strive to match his sensitive nature. The Bully Bordeaux is recognized by the following organizations: the American Canine Hybrid Club, the Backwoods Bulldog Club, the Designer Breed Registry, the Designer Dogs Kennel Club, Dog Registry of America, and the International Designer Canine Registry. 

Bully Bordeaux Breed Appearance

The Bully Bordeaux is a giant-sized dog. He is often dark brown, rust or a tan color. He may have white markings. He has a large, broad head and a muscular body. His face will often have large flaps of skin, and he will usually have brown or hazel eyes. He has a short, rough coat, a long tail, and floppy ears. His gait is determined and his appealing face shows a kind heart within.

Bully Bordeaux Breed Maintenance

The Bully Bordeaux is actually a very low maintenance dog. You might brush him once a week. Bathe him only when necessary as his natural oils will keep his coat healthy and shiny. If your Bully Bordeaux puppy inherits the Mastiff wrinkles, you will need to clean the wrinkles daily to prevent bacterial infections. To clean, use a damp washcloth to wipe between the wrinkles. Be sure not to leave the area moist as this could promote bacterial growth. You should brush your hybrid's teeth at least three times a week; however, if you want to prevent gum disease, brush the teeth daily. Trim your dog’s nails every other week and keep watch for lameness which could mean a broken nail.

Bully Bordeaux Temperament

The Bully Bordeaux is a gentle giant. He is playful, energetic, and loving, especially with children. He may be intimidating because of his size, but he is not an aggressive dog. He is loyal and protective of his family, however. He can be stubborn, and some experts do not recommend the Bully Bordeaux for first time dog owners. He needs training from an early age, and it must be firm consistent training. He can be stubborn and impatient. This loving does not like to be left alone for long periods of time, and he can be destructive if he becomes bored while alone. 

Bully Bordeaux Activity Requirements

The Bully Bordeaux is a fairly active dog. However, he should be an inside dog. The Bully Bordeaux wants to be with his family above all. He may suffer from separation anxiety if he spends a lot of time away from his family, which could result in chewed furniture or other destruction inside your home. Most owners agree that at least one hour of exercise each day is optimal for the Bully Bordeaux.  The Bully Bordeaux enjoys trips to the dog park, and loves to play with kids.  Due to his size, some may find him intimidating - plenty of trips to the park will enable him to perfect his people skills and work off energy at the same time.

Zeus is a great dog. He is loyal, affectionate, loving, and easy to be around. He gets along well with nearly everyone, including our cat. He loves living in the city, though the countryside did hold some excitement, too. Active as a puppy and as a young dog, Zeus has matured into a pleasantly lazy dog that loves exploring and wading into whatever water is available. But...the slime can be off putting. He slimes whenever he is excited or near food.

A one off dog who will never be bettered! Not as friendly with humans due to prior mistreatment. But he is a sweetheart who loves children totally and his mum and dad. Suffers separation anxiety badly. A joy to of took on as he rewards us daily with his loyalty. Would describe him more as a guard dog 🤨... He isn’t the usual bully Bordeaux description as mentioned here but he is perfect just for us.

Fantastic dog. Big baby yet excellent guard dog. Loves to play with the kids (7,3 & 8 months). He is a gentle giant. Loves meeting new people and is great around humans. Dogs on the other hand is hit and miss. He has 2 10 year old brothers (Jack Russell terrier and a pugland). They get on very well. Occasionally has minor tiffs with the pugland but never him that starts it. He loves to play chasing with his brothers. (usually him getting the chase). His coat sheds a lot but a good regular brushing helps a lot.

he really is the best dog iv'e ever known although he doesn't stop talking even when hes asleep, hes brilliant with children he lives with a 3 year old boy, and a 5 year old staff they have never fought hes happy to just be part of the family. if you're thinking of getting one, as long as your OK with making the effort I say go for it you wont regret it for a second.

We have a 12 month Bully Bordeaux who has started to become aggressive towards other dogs outside of the house. She is an angel in the house but she is becoming unpredictable outside and I am not sure why ? She is 12 months old and we got her shortly before lockdown.
